Diesel
223,500 Miles
Last Modified September 21, 2021

Regretfully selling my, recently finished 2008 diesel Sprinter 144.” I purchased this van from a very meticulous owner. He purchased the van new. I built this van for my wife and me, we are just not using it as planned, and I don’t like seeing things sit. This was not intended as a flip. This was built with passion, patience, and about 400 hours plus of time/labor. This Sprinter is badged as Mercedes and title as Dodge Sprinter, I was told it was a weird conversion year. All Mercedes built Sprinter, just the title says Dodge and the steering wheel. Rare, Pre-Def Sprinter.

Please read on, and forgive me for the long story and build sheet.

The Van’s Life Story:
I have all service records from the original owner, from 0 miles, including the window sticker. He changed the oil/filter every 10k miles, fuel filters every 20k, and religiously serviced all other fluids. Mercedes dealers and or independent shops did more complicated tasks. Most recently, I just had the A/C recharged at Star Motors and checked for leaks.

Some more recent bigger items before he sold me the vehicle include; Transmission was replaced at 180k miles with a Silver Star rebuilt unit by LinDen Engineering in Golden, Colo.; all fuel injectors and seals were replaced by Oregon Fuel Injection in Eugene; and the belts and pulleys were replaced by the Mercedes dealer in El Paso, Tx. The Takata airbag recall was done last year by a Dodge dealer. He also replaced one of the rear wheel bearings and installed a freshly rebuilt and balanced driveshaft. He did all the work preventively. He towed costly cars around the states.

The Sprinter was purchased with a 5000lbs factory receiver hitch, and the van is hardwired for an electric brake controller. The Tekonsha Prodigy unit is included. Full set of 5 Mercedes aluminum wheels, with new BFG’s with less than 2k miles. Sprinter is rare to find a pre-DEF (that’s right, no DEF worries with this van). This Sprinter also was equipped with factory cruise control and overhead bulk bins for plenty of storage. No engine lights, no broken parts, no mystery noises, ready for its next adventure! High mileage, but runs so well. This van gets 30 miles to the gallon, and I get over 400 miles per tank.

The Build Story:
I purchased this last year from the original owner and decided to build a van. I am very OCD, and you will tell with the build. I also researched what is most used and what people do to over-build these vans. With the current battery supply, I have built this van to run about 5 days off-grid and utilized various van companies in Portland for some very nice build kits. Adventure Wagon being one of them, big thanks to them!

The ceiling is made from 100-year-old fir wood floors that we sanded down and notched, ploy treated, amazing stuff! I am a mechanic, build cars on my ofttimes, rehab homes, and build homes with friends. I don’t cut corners. Every detail has very well thought out.

Recent Work Completed by Star Motors:
Transmission Service/Repair, Fan Clutch, Shroud Replacement, Maf Sensor, O2 Sensor.

I am sure I forget some things, but I am happy to discuss this van with any potential buyer. Please be respectful of both our times. That is why this ad is so long-winded. The two things to remember, yes, I know it’s higher mileage, but all the good stuff has been done, and it’s pre-def, new tranny, and injectors. This vehicle is dialed and has 100’s of thousands of miles left. It is a short van, short roof. I wanted to build something that was easy to drive/park, not live in. My wife has no problem sleeping while I sit and enjoy my time on the bench.

Lastly, will only accept cash or cashier’s check, in person, or at the bank. Clean title in hand. I could help with shipping, or if you want to fly out to see it, I suggest driving your new rig home! No test drives without proof of funds.

Happy travels, and thanks for looking!
Jason
