5,000 BTU AC UNIT is the required AC size to cool the normal 150 Sq Ft area in a home, the Promaster Van is just under 100 Sq Ft, I opted to MODIFY a new 5,000 BTU Window unit (450 WATTS is what it consumes) this 5,000 BTU AC Window Unit is sized PERFECTLY as I’ve tested it in the Van on the HOTTEST Summer day in FLORIDA and it really cools and DEHUMIDIFIES the entire Van very comfortably…most Van Conversion companies use a way OVERSIZED 12,000 BTU Roof Mounted AC unit which consumes roughly 3,000 WATTS + and requires cutting a huge hole in the Van Roof there by presenting the likely hood of future LEAKS …this Van has NO ROOF cut outs and NO DRILLED HOLES…thus, CAN NEVER LEAK…additionally, the 5,000 BTU AC Unit MODIFICATION I designed and installed matches the precise LOAD requirements needed to PROPERLY Cool and DEHUMIDIFY the AIR inside the Van, so the system optimizes COMFORT while MINIMIZING POWER consumption and, as well, MINIMIZES the NOISE level by a factor of 3…you can barely hear the unit run.
