Her name is Freedom she is a 2021 Ram Promaster 2500 136 WB with about 25600 miles. She is a custom build from Brooklyn Campervans. With freedom you can live 100% off the grid anywhere you wish. I have created unforgettable memories living in this van. From camping off the grid in the Olympic National forest to stealth camping in big cities, I have had the adventure of a lifetime. I love my van but I have decided to settle down and focus on family. I now live in a apt and am ready for the next chapter of my life.
She is in great condition and has zero mechanical problems. I did have a small slow speed car accident in this van but everything was 100% repaired, and only involved the front bumper/hood area of the vehicle. At only 25600 miles she is still covered under warranty. There is a current manufacturer recall on Ram Promasters made from 2019-2021 which involves some vans having an issue with the park pawl not fully engaging the park gear due to debris. This van has never had any issues with the park pawl. Any issues would be fully covered by the manufacturer. I only lived in the van for about two years but of course there is a little bit of interior cosmetic damage from just normal wear and tear, but nothing that can’t be easily fixed with paint.
When I had this van custom built by Brooklyn Campervans, I wanted to have everything I needed to live free comfortably and be able to travel and live wherever I wished while travel nursing. So this van has just about every modification/addition that you need to live comfortably off the grid. I added a screenshot of all the things I had Brooklyn Campervans professionally install on my van. I will also list the features this van has below. The only thing I installed myself was the no drill prime design ladder on the back driver side door and without drilling, I placed two ring cameras on each side of the van, which can be easily removed.
Everything inside of Freedom works perfectly. I did my research and did a lot of overthinking about all of the things I wanted in my custom van build and I think my van builders did too. I have noticed alot of the parts in my van have been placed in a way that if that specific part or device were to break it is easily accessible and can easily be replaced or repaired.
Some of my favorite features:
My custom electrical system works amazingly, it charges with the solar panels, while I’m driving and of course I can just plug her into a regular outlet. I love that I included the shower, since I was travel nursing, working 12 hour shifts, it was very important to me to be able to come home and shower. The 40 Gallon water tank lasts way longer than I thought it would before I started vanlife. I could take multiple showers and rarely had to refill my water tank. So you won’t have to always worry about how much water your using or how much water you have left, as much as other vanlifers do. I also added a hot water heater to my build, I used it mostly during the winter.
In freedom you don’t have to chase the weather to live free, the webasto heater and the Dometic 12v A/C allows you to live comfortable in any weather, in any state you choose.
In the winter the webasto heater was a lifesaver, as soon as its turned on, in about two minutes the entire van is warm. Because it is meant for a larger space I didn’t need to run it for very long to reach a comfortable temp. The webasto heater runs off the gas in the vans tank, but it uses such a small amount its not noticeable.
During the summer the 12V Dometic RTX 2000 was the love of my life, it is 12V and has an eco mode option which is great if your off the grid and not getting a lot of solar. It was great after being outside in the wilderness during a hot summers day hiking or doing my vanlife chores, to be able to have a cold shower and lay on my bed right under that a/c.
I love my custom electrical system, I never felt like I didn’t choose enough batteries or enough solar panels. Freedom has three Renogy 200AH batteries, total 600AHs and Two 175 Watt solar panels plus one 100 Watt panel on the roof, to accommodate the small MaxxAir Fan Dome in the shower/bathroom area. The 3000 Watt inverter helps run the hot water heater to whatever temperature you’d like. With a 9000W peak power you can run a washing machine.
Also included with the van is a device that allows you to charge your house batteries at an EV J1772 charging station. I used this most when I was working in Washington state during the winter near the ocean, it would rain daily, so there wasn’t much solar. The facility I worked at had a free EV charging area for employees, I would leave my van charging while working, after work id be at 100% charge and could use all the power I wanted and continue living free stealth camping. There are also a lot of free EV charging stations in cities, you can find them using EV charging apps.
When sold, I will be replacing my microwave with a brand-new microwave. A new full size memory foam 6” mattress is already in the van, still wrapped. Also included are two rear, back door openable screened windows, I have not had the chance to have them installed. This will allow you to have some more air flow in the van. A new one burner electric stovetop will also come with the van. I will include my used butane stovetop and small propane grill as well, if the buyer wishes. The van will also come with a brand new water hose and water filter, to refill the water tank.
Toward the end of my vanlife journey I decided to buy The Wrappon Trekker WT-4 portable toilet. This toilet wraps and seals in your waste without using water. I only used it 1 refills worth of times, each film comes with 50 uses. It is clean and like new, it is a $1600 portable toilet and will come with the van if the buyer wishes. I have had every vanlife toilet you can think of, from a composting toilet to the Laveo dry flush toilet, it may not look as nice as the others but it is the best one I have had.
Freedom is a 136WB, so she fits in normal parking spaces, drives like a car, and makes it easier to stealth camp, she blends in well with other parked vehicles. She is a Ram Promaster 2500 which means she has a max towing capacity of 6,700 LBs and a payload of 4130 LBs. She has a trailer tow hitch receiver already installed, she is ready to tow.
Freedom comes with insulation window covers for each window, including a windshield cover. There are also curtains installed which I used to quickly cover the windshield if I didn’t feel like using the big windshield cover. The curtains can be easily removed. The window covers help insulate the van, it also helps with stealth camping. With all of the covers on, you cannot see what is going on inside, even with the lights on, giving you complete privacy. The driver and passenger side windows are deeply tinted, so you cannot be seen at all.
The van also includes a backup camera, wide heated mirrors with blind spot and cross path detection (life savers), bluetooth, passenger sliding door window and back door passenger and driver side windows with deep tint sunscreen glass, window covers for complete privacy all around, insulated curtain to separate the cab from the living area that provides blackout from the sun as well as keeps heat/cold out, this van has all you need and more. I am happy to answer any questions.
More pictures or videos of anything you’d like to see are available upon request.
I will also include the window sticker for this van, as I bought this van brand new straight out of the factory from a dealership. Of course, a lot of the cargo area things are not included, since they were removed for the van build (like cargo lamp or cargo tide down rings).
